Michela English

President & CEO (retired)

Michela English was President and CEO of Fight For Children, an organization dedicated to improving lives of children by supporting both teachers and schools in Washington, DC. Previously, English served as President of Discovery Consumer Products, as well as President and Chief Operating Officer of Discovery’s online platforms. She has held senior positions with the National Geographic Society, Marriott Corporation, and McKinsey and Co.

English serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of the Educational Testing Service (ETS). She is also a member of the boards of the Corcoran Gallery of Art and College of Art and Design, DC Preparatory Academy Public Charter School, DC Public Education Fund, and the Gladstone Companies. She is a member of the Advisory Council of the College of William & Mary’s Virginia Institute of Marine Science. As well, English has served as Chairman of the Board of Sweet Briar College, President of the Women’s Forum of Washington, member of the Yale School of Management Board of Advisors, Director of the National Education Association’s Foundation for the Improvement of Education, Director of Riggs National Corporation, and Director of the Potomac KnowledgeWay.

English graduated from Sweet Briar College and went on to earn a master’s degree in public and private management from Yale School of Management.
